Anxiety Counselling
Anxiety overestimates the threat and underestimates our ability to manage it.
How EMDR Can Treat Anxiety
Healing is possible when we are able to explore, be curious and learn from our triggers and emotional pain without shame and judgement.
The first step in conquering the anxious thoughts, is understanding what coping mechanisms we had to put into place in the past—that no longer serve us in the present moment.
With the use of EMDR, we can detox the trauma residue & conditioning and create stronger, healthier and more adaptive neural pathways.
Simultaneously, if we can build tolerance within the nervous system, our sensing body can face the energetic dissonance (anxiety) without disassociating, and ultimately come back to baseline.
Once we FEEL safer in our bodies and nervous systems, we can then BUILD (like a muscle) the trust that we need.
The trust that we are safe.
The trust that we will have enough.
The trust that we are enough.
And that the terrible version of reality that we hold in our minds born out of our past hurts & traumas isn't going to happen.
Why Are We Anxious?
We are not anxious because we haven't meditated enough—we are anxious because we're scared, and hurt, and we have exhausted our minds and bodies in hopes it will keep us safe from all the things we fear the most.
We hold false limiting beliefs deep within our subconscious usually intertwined with core wounds we experienced in childhood which imprint the beliefs of:
I am not enough
I am not okay
I am inherently flawed
I don't belong
I won't be supported/ taken care of
Tapping into these false limiting beliefs & core wounds and gifting space for the subsequent stored emotions held in the body as a result, is how we get to the true roots of anxiety & dysregulation.
